3rd Pathways to a Sustainable Future: Day 2 & 3 - June 25, 26, 2017

On our 2nd day, we had the opportunity to visit the Unification Church Center of Asuncion for Sunday Service. We walked our way to the bus stop and drove about 10 minutes to reach our destination. Sunday Service consisted of singing sessions, a sermon from the local UPF director, testimonies, prayers, and fellowship followed by serving of lunch. Our participants expressed great appreciation for this opportunity and especially felt welcomed by the members of the Asuncion community. Some participants voiced their thoughts saying that, “we were surprised at how strong their life of faith was.” In the afternoon, Aunt Carol and Uncle Mario presented a leadership activity where participants learned their unique characteristics through identifying themselves as either a lion, fox, or a St. Bernard. This activity allowed us to identify our strengths and weaknesses that will come into play as we start working in the villages as a team and how we can combat problems together. On our 3rd day, we spent a rather relaxing morning where we were preparing ourselves for the departure to Loma Plata. In our morning session, we discussed about the different ways we experience God. Whether it be through music, in nature, in silence, or even through enthusiasm, every participant connects with God in their own unique way. Afterwards, we loaded the bus with our luggage and drove off on a 6 hour drive to Bahia Negra. Though the roads were rocky, we enjoyed a very relaxing ride resting and conversing with one another. We even got to enjoy some beautiful sceneries and see a sunset on our way there. We ended our trip at a restaurant to fill our empty stomachs and reached our hotel to rest the night.
